April 2018 Newsletter

Welcome to April!

I am thrilled to announce that our Board of Directors has awarded two new grants this past month: Congratulations to More Than No and PolyDallas Millennium!

 PolyDallas Millennium
(More Than No, left; PolyDallas Millennium "Rewriting the Rules", right)

  • More Than No (@morethanno, facebook.com/MoreThanNo)  is an outreach and educational group based in Los Angeles, CA, that promotes open dialogue about rape, sexual violence, and consent. They offer educational workshops and peer support groups for survivors and allies. More Than No also produces "Cabaret Con-Sensual," which provides survivors and allies a space to express themselves through the performing arts.
  • PolyDallas Millennium (@polydallas, facebook.com/PolyDallas) will be hosting their fourth annual symposium, "Rewriting the Rules," July 13-15, 2018, in Dallas, TX. PolyDallas Millennium is a sex-positive sexual health symposium that is a platform for marginalized and oppressed groups. We provide education on ethical non-monogamous relationships in an oppressive and stigmatizing society. Educators, activists, and community leaders that are representative of the attendees engage the audience in shared language and experiences. PolyDallas Millennium is a symposium that has space and joy for all communities and all ways of being.

Thanks to your support, our grantee Dirty Lola of Sex Ed A Go Go is moving full steam ahead with her 2018 season of fun and fabulous variety shows! You can catch her upcoming shows in NYC or out on tour at CatalystCon and PolyDallas Millennium. Can't make it to a show? No problem! Subscribe now to the Sex Ed A Go Go podcast and get new shows delivered directly to your ears.

How are things going for the Foundation behind-the-scenes? Well, I've spent a chunk of the past month writing checks and making purchases for our grantees, and I never knew that paperwork could be so emotionally fulfilling. ;) I'm serious, though: there is nothing like the feeling that knowing you are finally getting people the resources they need to do amazing, sex-positive work.

Thank you for supporting the Effing Foundation and our grantees! And thanks for taking the time to read this newsletter -- it means a lot to me to be able to share our progress with you.

Peace,

Kit Stubbs, Ph.D.
Founder & Executive Director
