March 2019 Newsletter

This spring, we’re excited to kick off of our next grant cycle. Now that we’ve met our second fundraising goal and are busy onboarding the incredible grantees you helped us support it’s time to help more sex-positive projects flourish.

“We fund projects that provide hope and critique, art and activism, pleasure and grief, and all the things in between or outside,” shares advisory council member Aida Manduley, LCSW.

Our Open Call for Projects survey will be available for two months, from May 1 to July 31. After reviewing all proposals, our advisory council will invite 16 applicants to participate in the final round of selections in the fall.

You can find the full 2019-2020 grant cycle calendar, along with more information about the application process, on our website. To receive e-mail updates, head to https://www.effing.org/join and check "Send me information and updates about applying to your grant program." We can’t wait to learn how you’re creating a sex-positive future.

The Effing Foundation is proud to provide funding to our 20 grantees. As our community grows, so does our library of sex-positive resources. Right now, two of our grantees are gearing up to publish new work – and you have the opportunity to be included!

The Erotic Games Art Anthology is looking for tabletop RPGs, freeform LARPs, and games that are a blend of both styles. The upcoming anthology, produced by Lucian Kahn and Sharang Biswas, will include eight playable games that are themed around sex or sexuality in some way. Click here to learn how to submit a proposal. Deadline is Wednesday, May 15.

Perverts of Color Zine is seeking artists and writers for their April publication. The only requirement to apply? Be both a kinkster and a person of color. You can also celebrate the diversity in perversity by purchasing past zines. The digital PDFs are just $3 each on Etsy.

Looking to join us in person? Teasecraft is meeting this week at Artisan’s Asylum in Somerville, MA. Whether you're curious about pervertibles, kinky engineering projects, or remote topping, we've got you covered! Learn about reverse-engineering a shock collar on Friday, March 15, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. The next Teasecraft meeting, topic TBD, will be Friday, May 17.

If you’re interested in designing sex toys, but aren’t in the greater Boston area, check out these tips on how to get started with creating your own dildo or butt plug. Did you know you can use a 3D printer? And the Sex-Toy Collective provides an online dildo sculptor tool to make it quick and easy to send your perfect toy design to a printer for as little as $5.
